Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any previous dance experience?
Not at all. T3 starts with the very basics so no dance experience is needed. Generally we teach sections of beginning, intermediate, and advanced lessons each week. Feel free to jump between levels from week to week if you already have experience in a certain dance.
Is Tango the only dance that is taught?
Despite our name, Two to Tango offers instruction in most Smooth, Latin, and Rhythm dances. For those who don't yet speak "Ballroom", here is a non-comprehensive list of dances that are covered throughout the year:
Do I need to come with a partner?
Not at all! We randomly pair everybody up in each lesson group and rotate partners frequently so everybody gets to practice dancing with everyone. It's a great chance to get to meet new people and if you do come with a partner, we strongly encourage you to dance with others as well! (Note: There might be times where a partner is recommended, however we will be sure to let you know at least two weeks in advance so you have time to find one.)
What if I can't come to T3 every week? Will I fall behind?
Since T3 teaches a different dance every week and three skill levels are offered, you won't fall behind. While we love to see people come back every week, you're always welcome even if you aren't able to attend on a regular basis!
What should I wear to T3 on Sunday Nights?
Wear something that is comfortable to dance in. Anything from sweats, jeans and a T-shirt, to skirts, dresses, dress shirts or suits! It can get pretty warm in the dance studio, so really warm clothes like sweaters are not recommended. Sometimes T3 has 'theme nights', so check your weekly T3 email for updates!
Do I need to have dance shoes?
No special shoes are needed. You may bring soft-soled non-marking shoes that haven't been worn outdoors. Otherwise, the majority of people just dance in their socks!
Do I need to be a student at the University to participate in Two to Tango?
In addition to UWEC students, T3 is also open to high school students, college students from other universities, UWEC faculty, and community members; however, membership fees do vary.
Does T3 offer private lessons or group lessons outside of Two to Tango's regular Sunday meetings?
Yes! We love teaching other people how to dance. If you're interested, feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to help accommodate you.
